Employment Mentoring Scheme
Are you wanting to get into paid employment or a steady voluntary position, but are unsure how? We’re here to support you;
About The Project
We have teamed up with the charity Autism Forward to provide employment mentors to the Autistic people of Nottingham. Autism Forward awards us funding on an individual basis to provide mentoring support to you as our client.
To apply you will need to have a one-to-one chat with one of our team to ensure you meet the criteria set by Autism Forward:
- Be actively interested in and looking for paid or voluntary work
- Be diagnosed as Autistic OR on a waiting list for diagnosis
- Have the “Right to Work” in the UK
- Be able to provide a fixed address
If you meet all these criteria, we will complete a funding application with you to send to Autism Forward to be agreed upon before we can start supporting you.
What Does Support Look Like?
You will be able to have up to 25 one-hour sessions in a year and how we support you will depend on your goals, abilities and needs.
This could include:
- Interview preparation & practice
- Learning to complete CV’s and applications
- Support with job searching
- Support with journey planning to and from interviews/you new employment
- Understanding rights and responsibilities in your new role
Once we you have secured a role, whether paid or voluntary, your mentor will have finished with you in their role. If you are interested in having a “Workplace Mentor” (this is a mentor whilst you are in employment) we can discuss with you and your new manager about our Access to Work Support.
